Community Updates
Construction of the project will continue with Phase 1 on Monday, March 21, 2022. Phase 1 work will generally consist of new sidewalk, curb and gutter, handicap curb access ramps, traffic signal improvements, and concrete pavement on the south side of Pacific Coast Highway. Long-term, 24/7 lane closures will be implemented through the end of Phase 3 of the project, which will tentatively conclude in December of 2022. Traffic lanes will be reduced to 1 left turn lane and two through lanes in each direction.
Traffic Impacts
Friday, May 13 at 8:00 PM through Sunday, May 15 at 11:00 PM Sunday, May 15 at 11:00 PM through Friday, May 20 at 8:00 PM Message boards are deployed in all directions to inform drivers of the significant traffic impacts. Alternate routes are recommended. Although inconveniences are expected, it is our goal to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

The PCH & Hawthorne Project will increase the capacity of the intersection of Hawthorne Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway by providing three through lanes, dual left turn lanes and dedicated right-turn lanes in all four directions.
